Why do people care so much about healthcare coverage, cancer funding & research? Do you want to know why people are stressed out and afraid?

It’s Colorectal Cancer Awareness month and lucky me, I have scans coming up! 😬 So I thought I would share with you some numbers. In addition to Scanxiety, this (table below) is what cancer survivors “look forward to” financially, every time a six month check up is looming.
Even though we pay significant premiums for health insurance here's what it costs to be in Surveillance Mode for Colorectal Cancer every 6 months.
This does not include annual colonoscopy ($2500-5000) or interim bloodwork, and other doctor visits. Plus, many of us have additional out of pocket costs for meds and other docs in relation to long-term side effects or prevention. This is ONLY the 6 month interval cost...

Many cancers are preventable - but proper screening like colonoscopy and mammogram (breast cancer) can also be hard to get approval for, if you are under a certain age or unless you have a family history. HOWEVER, prevention costs much less than treatment!
There is clearly a misconception in our current administration that the healthy and wealthy don’t get cancer - and maybe they think that if they or their loved ones get cancer, they can just pay for a cure. Good luck with that without research and funding! 🙄
1 IN 2 MEN, and 1 in 3 WOMEN WILL GET CANCER IN THEIR LIFETIMES! CANCER DOES NOT DISCRIMINATE ...
...AND without research and funding, more people will die needlessly. Cancer doesn’t have to be a death sentence - it also shouldn’t break someone financially! PLEASE TELL YOUR LEGISLATORS TODAY TO PRIORITIZE CANCER! There are votes happening RIGHT NOW that are de-funding cancer and taking away people's access to care! Use the 5 Calls App or connect with FightCRC's Call to Action Page!
You may not care now, but if you or someone you love gets diagnosed with cancer, an autoimmune disease, heart disease, etc. Then you will care! Don’t wait until that happens.
Be A Good Human!
